It’s always said “you never forget how to ride a bike”. Well I’m the guy who did.
I set out this morning on a biking tour of Stockholm, arranged by the hostel and as soon as I got on the bike there were a few issues. First of all it was a fixed gear bike so going uphill was an absolute struggle, the other main problem is that there was no brake! Instead of the system I was used to, you have to pedal backwards instead, and this stops the wheels as opposed to actually having a pull brake to stop the wheels. At first this was a nightmare as I could not get used to it, but as the three hour ride continued, I started to become more accustomed to it. We went all around the city learning about certain buildings and areas including the Royal Palace, the multiple museums and even the spot where the Prime Minister, Olof Palme was assassinated. Another spot we stopped at was the crash site of the Saab JAS 39 Gripen.
After that tiring but very interesting ride out, I felt I needed food. This hostel I’m in has a fantastic deal where they supply FREE dried pasta to their guests! I popped out to the local shop and picked up a few items to make a sauce with and took complete advantage of the deal. I’ve actually written about this hostel in more detail in my reviews section, it successfully made it’s way into my Top 10 Hostels!
Having put off doing any washing, I realised I should do some now as it’s been quite a while since I last did any. The only downside to this is that I have to stay in the hostel for a few hours while my clothes go through the motions. Luckily I chose to do this while it’s raining so everything worked out.
